| Background information: |
Additionally, Although related to bacterial chitinases, Highly expressed in chondrocytes (cartilage cells) and synoviocytes (fibroblastic cells that line joint cavities), Patients affected with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have autoimmunity against YKL-39, YKL-39 binds glycan structures with high affinity, YKL-39 is upregulated in early degenerative cartilage diseases (such as RA) and may be a marker of chondrocyte activation in these autoimmune conditions, YKL-39 lacks the characteristic glutamate active site and, does not have enzymatic chitinase activity, suggesting that YKL-39 is involved in osteoarthritic and/or rheumatoid joint disease, thus, YKL-39 is a 390 amino acid cartilage protein that belongs to the chitinase family of chitin-fragmenting hydrolases |

| Advisory: |
For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube, Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom, specificity and sensitivity, thus reducing its reactivity, Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody |

Alexa Fluor |
| Group: |
Polyclonals and antibodies |
| About: |
The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues, Polyclonals can be used for Western blot |
