| Background information: |
A mutation in the ABCD1 gene causes X-linked adreno-leukodystrophy (X-ALD), ABCB7 is a half-transporter involved in the transport of heme from the mitochondria to the cytosol, ABCD1 localizes to peroxisomes, ABCD1-4 that are known to be present in the human peroxisome membrane, ABCD2 in mouse is expressed at high levels in the brain and adrenal organs, ABCD3 is associated with irregularly shaped vesicles which may be defective peroxisomes or peroxisome precursors, All four proteins are ABC half-transporters, PMP22 and ABCD3, The peroxisomal membrane comprises two quantitatively major proteins, a peroxisomal disorder which affects lipid storage, which are adversely affected in X-ALD, which dimerize to form an active transporter, The peroxisomal membrane contains several ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters |

| Advisory: |
For antibodies that are in liquid form or reconstituted lyophilized antibodies small amounts could become entrapped on the seal or the walls of the tube, Prior to use briefly centrifuge the vial to gather all the solution on the bottom, specificity and sensitivity, thus reducing its reactivity, Avoid freeze/thaw cycles as they may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibody |
| Properties: |
For facs or microscopy Alexa 1 conjugate |
| Conjugation: |
Alexa Fluor |
| Group: |
Polyclonals and antibodies |
| About: |
The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues, Polyclonals can be used for Western blot |
